Sigurgata - Because life is about the journey on the path, not the destination!

Sigurgata (which means "Pathway to Victory" in Old Icelandic) is a primarily Norse Household residing within the Kingdom of the West. Many of its members live in the Principality of the Mists, but we also have members within the Principality of Cynagua and as far as the Kingdom of Caid!

The name "Sigurgata" was chosen to represent the journey that we hope each Household member will take, both in life and in their SCA career. Warrior, Artisan and Partisan alike, it is our hope that every member of Sigurgata is continually working to better themselves through learning, practice and through their everyday social interactions, because it is in these things we become healthy, happy, productive and contributing members of our society!

Sigurgata was formed by Duke Uther and Duchess Kara to advance the ideas of Chivalry, Courtesy, Martial Prowess, Historical Research and the Arts and Sciences within the Society for Creative Anachronism. They were soon joined by Duchess Letitia as the House Chatelaine to help further these goals.

Service and the Arts

Sigurgata is an active SCA Household. All Household members are full participants in the SCA and are interested in (and continually working toward) advancing their area of medieval study (be this arts, service or the martial arts). For example, many of the Artisans with in the Household are interested in Textile Arts (such as spinning, weaving, dying, embroidery and garment making, to name a few). But that's not all! We also have members well-versed in brewing, carving, medieval dance, music, constabulary, autocrating and more!
